Welcome to the home of St. Croix Celtic 2009

U16 Minnesota State Cup Semi-Finalist. 3-Time Classic 1 League Champions.

#5-Rated Team in Minnesota!

St. Croix Celtic is a boys' traveling soccer team from the highly-regarded St. Croix Soccer Club (www.stcroixsoccer.org). In Spring 2009, Celtic was invited to compete in the Midwest Regional League, and in their first MRL season, Celtic successfully assembled a 3-2-2 record in the U16 First Division, good enough for third place in their bracket. MRL was a great tune-up for the 2009 Minnesota State Cup. Celtic had previously never advanced out of their State Cup bracket; in 2009, the boys won their bracket, going undefeated in three round-robin games, before losing in the State Cup semi-finals in a shoot-out. Celtic won its third consecutive Minnesota Classic 1 summer league with an undefeated record, thus earning a third straight trip to the State Tournament. The team was invited to participate in the Windy City Collegiate Showcase in July in Illinois, but declined to accept an invitation to participate in the USA Cup Weekend tournament in Blaine, Minnesota.

With a gotsoccer.com team ranking of #5 in Minnesota and a current 2009 overall record of 15-3-3, Celtic is among the elite teams in its age group, training hard, playing hard and playing fair. In Coach Jake Smothers' second year with the team in 2009, the team has reached several goals already -- MRL success and advancing to the State Cup semifinals -- but there is still work to do, as the team seeks its first C1 state championship and Premier status in 2010.
